Cobalt Blue Tarantula

Cyriopagopus lividus

Illustration of a brown tarantula with blue legs
Distribution:Southeast Asia
Size:130mm leg span
Diet:All sorts of small animals

So called because of its striking blue legs, this tarantula lives in burrows in the southeast Asian rainforests.

Males, as shown above, are not as strongly blue as females, who display a much more vibrant colour extending down to the ends of each leg (and become more vibrant after each moult). I should have drawn a female!
